first...
sorry for my poor english (write this post with help from google translate :oops: )

i own Fender FSR Stratocaster HSS (MIM)
i dont know what years, en spec, what tipe pickup, in that strat
i only know this is Fender FSR Stratocaster HSS made in Mexico
:oops:

pics
Image

i have a few question to ask...

(1) why in neck and midle pickup so noise...? but when i switch to neck midle or another position there is no noise
i have Fender Telecaster (American Deluxe & American Standart, not sure what year), there is noise but why this Strat is so noisi, in neck and midle only
but i love this Strat sound (never played Strat before, in past 15year only Tele, and a few Jackson guitar)

(2) i planned to change the pickup same as Fender American Standart Stratocaster
what pickup should i buy, with the electronic

(3) the reason, why i buy this Fender Stratocaster, because i'm a huge fans of Mami Sasazaki (SCANDAL) band from Japan
and i want to make this Strat, look like her Strat
this is her Fender American Standart Stratocaster HSS
Image
i want to paint my Strat just like that
what should i do...?
should i remove all the original paint or just paint the graphic and re-finish
if i just paint the graphic in the original paint and re-finish it, will it affect with the guitar sound...?

tq

Hi MamiSasazakiFans,

Nice looking Strat! Welcome to the forum.

I can't see the serial number clearly. The "M" is made in Mexico (MIM), followed by a letter to indicate the decade (N for nineties (90s), Z for 2000 (00s), followed by a digit for the year. So, MN7xxxxx would be Mexico 1997, and MZ4xxxxx would be Mexico 2004. Post your serial number and someone here can tell when it was made.

1) Probably the middle pickup is reverse-wound, reverse-polarity (RWRP) for noise canceling in position 2 and 4. There is some noise normally with single-coil pickups. If you are near any electrical devices, including lights, computers, TV, the guitar can pickup noise, this is normal.

2) You can use any comparable single-coil pickups that you want, including American Standard pickups, Texas Specials, etc, many pickups will fit your Strat. For the hum-bucker, there are also a number of options, you'll want an F-spaced replacement. You could even get a pre-wired pick guard with the pickups that you want already installed.

3) No need to remove the original finish, you might have to lightly sand the existing finish with very fine sandpaper, to rough it up so the new paint can stick. As long as you don't apply a really thick paint job, you probably won't notice much, if any, difference in sound. :idea:

She is only a beginner guitarist and she lip synch's live (pretend guitar playing and singing).

You may regret painting your beautiful guitar like Mami's as with practice you can be better.
I think you should practice hard then you should design and paint your own logo.

As was stated previously, any single-pole pickup will hum a bit, especially at higher volume and when using effects pedals. Replacing one single pole with another will not solve that problem at all. The only thing that will solve it is to use the Vintage Noiseless pups that Fender makes. They are actually stacked humbuckers, though, and not true single poles. You could also run the guitar through a noise gate and set the threshold to where it just barely cancels the hum. This will eliminate the noise when you're not playing. When you are playing, of course, the sound of the guitar covers up the noise and it won't be heard at all.

from Fender web :
standart Stratocaster

5-Position Blade, Position 1. Bridge Pickup, Position 2. Front Coil of Bridge Pickup and Middle Pickup, Position 3. Middle Pickup, Position 4. Middle/Neck Pickups, Position 5. Neck Pickup

i dont know, if my Strat same like that

in my strat
1 = no noise
2 = no noise (maybe a little)
3 = noise
4 = no noise
5 = noise

is it normal...?
or maybe there is something wrong in my Strat

i use Fender Mustang 3 (amp) in factory preset number 98 (basic 90's stack), no pedal and planet waves cable
if i use my Fender Telecaster, no noise (like in my Strat) in all pos

MX10173137 = 2010 to 2011

As stated before, it is normal to have some noise with single-coil pickups, and the middle pickup is likely RWRP for noise canceling in position 2 and 4. The hum-bucker will have no noise by design, so position 1 will be quiet also. If the noise is unbearable, it may be time to take it to the shop for inspection and another opinion (we can't hear the noise to know if it is the normal noise or not).

YES it's normal. If it really bothers you, you may want to change the neck & middle pickups to hum canceling pickups.

Uhhh no she doesn't. I've seen Scandal live 3 times and Mami without a doubt plays and sings live. They're a great band; there's no need to bring your negativity into the thread.
