Well that's what I thought. I even went to the CS website and checked after I posted that. Some posters on this thread and others have said the Time Machine series is no longer offered.

I have noticed however that the Time Machine series guitars are no longer made with vintage specs. They now have larger frets and modern fretboard radii.

When Fender still offerred their "Time Machine" series, there were three lines within it -- the "NOS", "Closet Classic", and "Relic" instruments; each of them with a distinct level of visible wear and aging. All of the pickups (so far as I know) were the Custom Shop 57/62's for any vintage up through 1963. Later re-issue years got their own specific re-created pickups.

Are you sure about those pickups? In all the literature I've read about Time Machine strats they always say they have Custom Shop '50's pickups or '60's pickups or whatever. They never call them '57/'62's. If what you said is correct, then the Time Machine '50's and '60's Strats would use the same pickups as the American Vintage '57 and '62 Strats. You may be correct, but I've read quite a bit about these guitars and I own a Time Machine '56 Strat and I've never heard of them having '57/'62's.

I cannot say with certainty because I've seen so few Time Machine models. That said, I recollect helping a friend inspect a recently-purchased LE Mary Kaye re-issue a while back and the pickups *appeared* to be identical to the 57/62 types (they did have the "Custom Shop" sticker on the bottom of each bobbin). Whatever they were and whatever Fender is using in the TM classics, every one I've ever heard sounded just what it purported to be -- bright, spanky, snappy, and articulate. Like a good Strat should sound.

Thanks for that comment Snowy!
Further to the time machine series and a bit off topic but Fender will make a strat for virtually any year in the late fifties thru to late sixties you want with or without vintage specs.
Check out the download spec sheet in the start building section on the custom shop website here http://www.fendercustomshop.com/index.php/master-built/

Right but that's if it's custom built. You can get anything you want custom built if you wanna pay for it. The Time Machine series used to be all vintage specs but this year (maybe last) they started using more modern specs.
