I don't want this taken in the wrong way, its not an insult, but if the last time you changed your strings was 6/ months ago, I think you'd notice a much improved tone and tuning stability if you changed them more often. Even without playing it, a guitars strings go dead in a month or two, depending on what they're made of. If your playig it often, cut the time in half. Pure-nickel on the lower end, steel strings on the higher.

If you want to go long periods without changing them; out on Elixers or some other longer lasting string. I don't care for them, but if I could only change my strings every 3-4 months id use them.

Just wondering what you ended up purchasing.. I have two American Special series guitars myself .. I have an all black HSS and a Two tone sunburst with three single coils installed. I hope managed to get the guitar you wanted ..
