That's a good idea, turn this one into a maple vs rosewood debate, much less heated than politics. (it really is) :o

I'll start:

This is another reason why maple is superior to rosewood!

Just joking of course. :)

Lmao

ehhhh old news or not, I just saw it at the top of the list and decided to post lol

i do feel strongly that if Gibson did not pay the employees for missed time the government should, especially if it is fount do be a false accusation. allot of people today live paycheck to paycheck. a hiccup like that can cause some people problems.

I am curious if they even had legitimate proof of illegally possessed wood though. it seems a bit to hush hush to me.

but sadly one day we will have to have paperwork and government approval for everything we own or do. so I am just going to prepare ahead of time.
but I am a cynical conspiracy theorist  so don't take what i say as the gospel.

EDIT: also since when is it ok to "raid" someone based on one party's interpretation of a foreign law? sounds like a grudge to me :/ anyways i will shutty

Don't need proof to execute a search warrant, just probable cause. The objective is to gather evidence. Now, to what constitutes probable cause here is another question.

What I do see as a fact here is nobody will know what evidence is available unless a charge is filed and it goes to court. Until then, it's all speculation.

The fact that so many threads on different forums are still discussing this today shows that people are upset with how the DOJ handled this and apparently unjustly. Especially, with "fast and furious "investigation going on.

This topic really belongs in the Fender Lounge much more that on the Strat forum. It's a political issue, not a guitar issue. Indian rosewood is not illegal and it's not going to go away. Gibson was harrassed because their CEO is a Republican and that's it. Partisan political crap.

I thought this thread was getting locked?

Anyhow, till that happens I just want to thank everyone on this and all the other "Gibson raid" threads for the hilarious entertainment value it has all been. Never seen so much fantasy generated so fast. Best fun we've had on the Forum for months.

So many exciting new myths have arrived all at once: Indian rosewood is illegal; governments want guitar manufacture to move to Madagascar; SWAT teams are going to arrive in the night to snatch people's guitars; ordinary guitarists will find themselves prosecuted for owning a Les Paul; any and all guitars will be confiscated crossing frontiers; the American government is enforcing other counties' laws; guitar companies get raided based on how they vote; ...there was even a gentleman convinced he'd received a motoring citation based on his voting record.

It's all too, too rich! :D

That vid of Henry Juszkiewicz does tell us one thing for sure. From speeding tickets upwards everyone everywhere who ever falls foul of the law thinks it is amazingly unfair, it is all a dastardly conspiracy and uniquely the rules should not apply to them.

What a hoot.

Cheers - C

A snarky remark, to be sure - but I'm happy to help if you wish. Which bits don't you understand?
