Just curious, who out there would want to buy a new Fender Strat if they came back out in the hard tail configuration (other than the Custom Shop option)?

I would definitely consider one. It would'nt replace my standard trem. Strat though.

I recently bought a new Wayne Kramer signature model which is a hardtail.

in a heartbeat I would !!

i'm a "Bender" anyhow... I played Gibbys and similar for 30 yrs. before buying, or really even trying much with a Fender, so hardtail isn't a problem for me.
and i'm absolutely hooked on single coil Fenders now.....geez what I was missing out on, who knew that solid body guitars could sound bright AND clear?

I've wanted a Robert Cray strat just because its a hard tail. I never use a tremolo and keep the bridge flat against the body.

There are non-Custom shop strats that are hardtail.

Robert Cray
Billy Corgan
Jim Root
Wayne Kramer

But I do know what you mean. Up until around 2007 you could get an American Standard Hardtail, but sales were slow so they were dropped from the lineup

Hardtails sound differently; but if you already own a vibrato Strat, That's OK
PS Harder to sell

I would grab one, I have been playing around with an idea about building one from Warmoth parts. Something like one of their baritone necks, with an ash body and the pool route to fit Lace pups and the Clapton mid-boost, a baritone Strat Plus :D

It would have been nice to have one, just for a change. Maybe I would like to have a top-mounted bridge. That way, they would not have to cut the hole for the tremolo system or any holes for the strings to go trough the body. More wood on the plank :D

No! If you want a hardtail play a Telecaster! The tremelo is an important part of the Strat sound. It is unique there is none like it. What would the Shadows sound like with no tremelo? What would Dick Dale be surfing with no tremelo? Would Jimi Hendrix play the Star Spangled Banner on a Gretsch with a Bigsby? Could Jeff Beck keep his guitar in tune without his tremelo? Would David Glimour be a famous well known guitarist today? How could any self respecting guitarist not use it when playing "Born to Be Wild" at the local Bike rally? Nay... I say nay... now get some hay for the horse :) to each his own I guess...
