 Hello there, I have just bought a Mexican made strat from eBay. Couldn't wait to get it. However, when it arrived, I was surprised and slightly concerned to see how similar (exact copy really) it was to my Squire Strat. I'm wondering, should the tuning pegs have the Fender name on them? Also, is there anything on the Mexican made Strat, that will identify it as being original? Thanks John

check the serial number against the reference numbers for dating on the fender site (either under resources of the support tab, i forget which)

The guitar should say Made In Mexico on the headstock.... and the serial number should start with an "M"....... My MIM def. has "Fender" on the tuners..... Also the feel of the neck should be smoother than the feel of your squiers neck
