Since you were not specific on what kind of remedy you seek. I would say don't be so rough on the arm.

To break a tremelo bar off ......you need to be really putting that thing through some serious hard playing or you got a faulty arm.Exactly how did it break? and where did it break at?That might help us out on how to remedy this.

Upgrade the block.

I love all the non-answers I read to people question. He didnt ask how to not break it in the future. If you want to keep this block; go to home depot. They sell attachments for drills, I use them myself to great success pulling out pieces of broken arms, as long as its not scewed in with Hurculean strenght.
The first part is like a threaded drill bit, but it drills in reverse, so the threads are reversed. The second goes into the threads you just made, and with the drill in reverse, will unscrew it from the block.
If you want a new block; GFS have inexpensive ones, Callaham and KCG have more expensive ones made with better metals.

my pleasure. The bit will cost you $10-20, and is usefull for other stuff too, like if you snap the head off a screw, its what is made for.

If you do want a new block; the Callaham and KCG's have bushings in the hole you scew the arm in. It spreads the tension througout the whole arm, instead of just the bend in it. Tremolo arms break ALL THE TIME. Its not uncommon at all. It is uncommon with the two blocks i mentioned. I had 1 callaham come in with a broken arm, but he had scewed in a cheap arm from a strat copy, had 13's, and was literally stepping on the arm. Nit wit.

Howdy!

I too know the pain of snapping a wang bar off.

I reckon the remaining threaded section is beyond my skill level to remove so I'm going to send it to forum user Ceri who's going to have a crack at it.

Anyway the following link details how I went about replacing mine...

Enjoy!

Natch. But why don't you send that block across a table with a couple of pints of beer on it, and I'll send some metal plates for the bottoms of pickups back in the other direction. Eh?

Cheers - C

Sure thing dude! :D

FYI: The hole is just under 5mm, so if your screw extractor kit has a 4mm bit you'll be in with a chance.
