It depends on the LP Studio - solid vs. transparent finish, chrome/nickel hardware vs. gold, dots vs. small trapaziod inlays vs. full trapezioid inlays, figured top or not.

A 40th Anniversary Strat like that is just an American Standard with the little metal "medal" on the headstock and a commemorative neck plate - no spec differences between a 1993 or a 1995 American Standard (although Fender did start changing the headstock decals sometime in 1995 to the current style with the serial number on the back if I'm remembering correctly) so they are worth about $700 or so here in the USA. If your Studio has a figured top it would be worth $200-$400 os so more than the Strat; if yours has a plain top, solid finish, and chrome or nickel hardware then you would be making out on the deal or at least breaking even. I've seen solid black Studios with chrome hardware go as low as $600 around here.

hi and thanks for the replies , your answers were just as i thought , my studio is an ebony with chrome hardware so nothing special and they can be picked up here for 300 to 450 gb pounds and my thinking is that the strat will hold it's price a bit better even though it is just the neckplate and logo on the headstock that makes it different , i'm going to give the guy a phone and i''ll let you all know how i get on , cheers

Value wise, I think the Strat is worth more. Studios are getting cheaper all the time.
