I dont know what it could be, or how they could stay in tune forever. I'm looking at it on my work computer, that has a real slow internet speed, and no audio. the article's in video only. Anyone seen what it is? I'm expecting to click on it and see a Floyd Rose or something else thats been around forever.....

Its called Evertune. It's an add on replacement bridge assembly. There's another thread about it in the lounge. I wasn't impressed. Ugly, looks like the b#stard child of Floyd Rose and Kahler with no tremelo.

It a system of springs that keeps a constant tension on the strings so the tuning never changes. Its kinda neat.

It's interesting, not quite as ugly as a Floyd Rose, but IMO it's over priced. Otherwise, I might be tempted to try it out on one of my guitars.

Then it's definitely out of the question as far as I'm concerned. Pie in the sky prices just don't cut it. Plus products are never as rosey as they appear in their ads.

$300 - $500.....my ears are free. maybe thats why music is so bad these days, no one wants to tune or learn how to tune their guitars. i have a tuner but the only time i use it is when i change strings or set up the guitars. people are so impatient these days. nobody wants to invest the time to learn things the right way. i even sometimes use a pitch pipe to tune. hey..whatever makes you happy...old school or tech.

I thinks its more for helping you stay in tune than tuning your guitar.

Exactly right. It kind of explains how it works on their website.
http://evertune.com/overview_tech.html

However, it mentions that there are three factors that affect string frequency: mass, tension, and length, with length being the most dominant factor. What this thing doesn't consider is that, as we play on the strings, the oils from our fingers and contact with the frets gradually corrode and wear away the plating on the strings - if you've ever seen an overused set of strings on a guitar, you've seen where the plating is worn away. This affects the mass of the string, and since the mass is so little to begin with, it can affect it somewhat substantially.

Plus, you never get to use your tremolo ever again. That's a personal choice, obviously, but I wouldn't shell out $500 to lose some serious versatility in playing. I'd rather spend $80 and get a decent set of locking tuners, and tune it by ear. Just my two cents.
