So I've looked through and found a lot of different opinions on a few things and I'm hoping for clarification and some advice. My current project strat is a Mexi Deluxe Roadhouse that i was unhappy with the pickups in. I've pulled the Vintage Noiseless pickups out of another project strat I did years ago and I'll be using them along with a GFS Fat Pat in the bridge with a coil tap. I'd like to wire it so that the forward tone knob works on the neck and middle, the back works on the bridge. I can't seem to find a wiring diagram that does exactly this. My second question is regarding the pots themselves. I have seen people recommend everything from 250 to 1Meg pots for the vintage noiseless pickups. I know Fender has shipped the pickups with various pot configurations over the years. I already picked up a 500k pot with DPDT switch and I'm wondering on what value to get for the other two pots.
Any advice is appreciated!

Welcome!

In this particular situation, your best bet is to use 500K audio taper pots for the volume and the lower tone control, using a 250K audio taper pot for the upper tone control. The key here is to accommodate the full sized HB's frequency response properly as well as the VNs.

At the pickup selector switch, solder one 470K resistor to each of the VN pickups' terminals and then to ground. The resistors will make the VNs 'see' (close enough to) a 250K pot when either VN is selected.

Using this stock Strat wiring diagram for reference, here's how to wire your tone pots:

http://www.ratcliffe.co.za/articles/stratwire1.gif

You will see the upper four terminals on the selector switch where the third and fourth terminals (left to right) have the tone pots wired to them.

To use the lower tone pot for the bridge pickup only:
Unsolder and remove the lower tone pot's wire from the third terminal and solder it to the second terminal.

To use the upper tone pot for neck and middle pickups, solder a wire from the third terminal to the fourth terminal.

That's it.

Enjoy and if you get stuck, just yell!

Thanks Martian!

I'm going to have to sketch that out before I really get what you're saying:)
