Yes SENRTY, you nailed it, lots of people fail to see the beauty and skill of his rhythm. 'Up from the Skies' & 'Highway Chile' are great examples.

Great songs.

I think the one that still blows me away every time I hear it is "Killing Floor" from the Monterey Pop Festival.

But, I hold the same opinion about SRV as well. Another killer rhythm player.

(Hmm...Come to think of it...is it just me, or is there a pattern here?)

if you dont have, get the whole Woodstock performance
of jimi, from the hendrix website, and also check out other DVDs of him
performing in paris and sweden you will be blown away.another thing you will notice on these DvDs is whenever hes playing a gibson, watch his face and the agony he displays trying to achieve the right sound unlike when hes playing the strat which comes naturally to him

jimi not only played styles of his heros he invented new styles

James Marshall Hendrix is the MAN and always will be. 'Third Stone From The Sun' still amazes me every time I listen to it...

Jimi didn't play music or composed music of his time...The music he played was not an arrangement of tones and guitar techniques...

HE was the music !

Jimi is defnately one of the most recognizable Strat players. Also the reason why I didn't listen to everyone when they said that I had to play right handed.

I'm sorry but that one reply that said Jimi copied other players was just incredibly wrong.

Copying is one thing.

Borrowing riffs and licks and stringing them together in unique ways and adding your own unique sonic signature to your music is ... being innovative.

Not to belittle his genius, but at one point he was just like you or me...he had idols. He just took it to the extreme... he had a passion for the strat and was know to play it non-stop, for days on end. I would imagine that anyone that put that much into it would get something more out in the end

do you agree that he is the most famous strat user? I think he is the greatest blues musician in history. He was a visionary that painted notes in the sky with his guitar. Show some love for J'imi here.
"Now dig this baby",Jimi I had the good fortune to see Jimi live in '67. Thru the smoke and that smell it was one of the most memorable nights of my life. The Blues he could express were his own. I recall something about a red house burnin' over yonder, I was completely awestruck. He is the pioneer of Strat Blues. He only got better from there. His sound is one of the reasons I own a Strat. I wish I had the talent to emulate but not "rip off" so to speak his style.
