do you agree that he is the most famous strat user? I think he is the greatest blues musician in history. He was a visionary that painted notes in the sky with his guitar. Show some love for Jimi here.

Im buying a black standard with the maple fretboard because of him. I love the way the guitar looks, later on, when i get some money, i really want to get the 50's strat in black w/ maple fretboard.

i was never much of a hendrix fan. I mean, he was great. he did amazing things. i have respect for him as a player. I feel that he ripped off a lot of his "signature" sounds and performance from other players.

but he was great. and he does deserve all the respect that he gets. just not my favorite.

Don't get caught up in all that "ripped off" stuff. Every guitarist learns and is influenced by his favorites. :)

Jimi was the master! 8)

Jimi was a master of the strat and a brilliant composer as well. One can only imagine what brilliant tunes he would have written had he lived a longer life.

I think fender sells most of their strats because of Hendrix, Clapton, SRV...... and now... John Mayer seems to be the big craze :P ...... Personally I got my first strat because Tom Delonge from blink 182 played one :s hahaha I was such a kid :) Most musicians are inspired by their heros and that influences their first REAL guitar purchase lol..... and by real I mean getting a guitar they actually want.... and not just what mom can afford lol

I was an art major until I saw a graphic novel rendition of Voodoo Chile (A Slight Return) in a magazine publication called Heavy Metal. I was so blown away by the artwork in concert with Jimi's lyrics. After that I bought the double album anthology, Essential Jimi Hendrix Vol. 1 just for that song. After hearing Jimi play for the first time I lost all interest in pen and brush and took up the guitar. That was about 25 years ago. I've owned many guitars since then, the best till now was a gutted '74 Les Paul Classic that I rebuilt. My dream guitar though, because of Jimi, was always the Strat. I've had several Strat type clones but it took me this long to get a real one. When chosing my new Stratocaster I really struggled over the decision of which model. In the end I decided to sink as much as I could afford into it so I got the American Deluxe in vintage white. True luv 4 eva! 8)

Yes, Jimi is the most famous Strat user of all time. Some of the Fender history books give him credit for keeping the model alive in the late '60s. So for everything, thank you, Jimi!

On a note of practicality...out of all of the guitars that were made during that era, the strat was probably the most comftorable to turn upside down and play in terms of balance.

(I can testify to this personally).

As for Hendrix? Killer, killer rhythm guitar player. Even when he was blowing off the most mind-blowing leads, you could still hear the rhythm of it.

Hendrix' song writing was fabulous too. Watching Andy Aledort teach us the Axis: Bold as Love album in that Guitar World DVD made me more fully appreciate the songs, their structure and beauty.

Yes, a strat's bridge saddles can be easily and properly intonated whether you want to play it lefty or righty. The same can't be said for Gibson type guitars because of the bridge mounting angle.

Yes SENRTY, you nailed it, lots of people fail to see the beauty and skill of his rhythm. 'Up from the Skies' & 'Highway Chile' are great examples.
