21 Years ago the world lost arguably the greatest guitar player of all time. I've listed to other great guitar players and musicians, but I felt SRV's music! It still gives me chills every time I listen to his music. RIP SRV! We miss you!

I saw him for the first time in the early 80s when he opened for the Moody Blues. I was speechless.

I think the fame and notoriety that he achieved was incidental to his skill and personality. I mean, he didn't just play smoking blues guitar, he was smoking blues guitar - from his toes all the way to the top of his head. He just followed who he was and what he felt, and he was so good at it that the couldn't help but be successful. I saw him on 3 different occasions and I feel the experience was a blessing. Put him right up there - Gillespie, Coltrane, Hendrix, Elvis,...

Such an amazing artist. Not only could he play, but he could write and sing. He was a true triple threat - a complete package. His guitar playing and his tone are what dreams are made of. RIP

I agree that we lost a great talent when SRV passed.

Put 20 guitarists in a room and you'd get plenty of opinions on who was/is "The Greatest".

I also agree that he was "The Greatest".....for YOU. And...that's OK as well because it's a subjective opinion. If you stuck two people in a room...cold..no rehersal....I doubt Hendrix could have played a piece by Segovia and I'm sure the classical master Segovia would have been lost around a Fuzz Face....LOL

I try to stay neutral because there are, and have been, too many great guitarists....Wes, Grant Green, Segovia, Hendrix, Clapton, Eric Johnson, Paco De Luca, Django, Dimeola, Doc Watson, and on and on.

One can only imagine where SRV would have taken his music. Yep...RIP SRV
