Hey to everybody,

I will be able to purchase the cherryburst RSS, but the serial number has just 6 digits. The number reads SE 915756.
Is it possible that it is a fake one?
It has the DiMarzio Paf PRO and 2 single coils config + the OFR, but the SN does not seem to show up in the Fender database. On the front you can see the RS Signature.....

Sorry no pics, yet. They put it on hold for me and at the same time the pics were taken
out of the net.

But to my amateur eyes, it looked real.

Can please anybody help me.....

Bye JULIA

Hi juwel1998,

What "Fender database"? Fender doesn't have a publicly accessible database. You can contact Fender with the serial number and guitar info and maybe they will know. The internet sites that purport to tell you a guitar's authenticity, are lacking to say the least, and should be disregarded, as they cause more harm than good.

Hi shimmilou,

well, so I hear a little annoyance in the tone???
That's where I got the information from - I mean from someone working in the consumer relations department.
I just thought, since there a lot of people in here who know about the Fender History and their serial number system could tell me something more.....
Or maybe even one of the RSS owners are on here with a similar SN.

It was just a wild guess, I guess!!!

Bye JULIA

You already contacted Fender first, so OK, I see. You might be right, someone here might have one, but without pics, no one can tell whether yours is fake or not.

+1

If it were me, I would stay away from this deal. Just seems a little shady that the number isn't in Fender's database, as you say.

Keep in mind that Fenders info only goes back to about 1993, so anything older than that wouldn't show. It is also possible that some numbers, even after '93, may have been inadvertently left out when the data was entered.

Hey to everyone,

thx for your replies.... as soon as I have it, pic will be here, it's just not going to be before the next let's say 10 days or so....

I completely forgot to mention the offer is from Gruhn's guitars in Nashville, who even Fender mention besides elderly.com, mandoweb.com and normansrareguitars.com.

I tried to dig deep and found this in
http://www.fender.com/en-US/support/art ... uct-dating

CBS sold Fender in March 1985. Serial numbering didn't change because instruments continued to be made using existing tooling, parts and serial number schemes.

SERIAL NUMBERS PRODUCTION DATES

E9 + 5 5 digitis 1989.

So if I get it correctly, it maybe could be an '89 model, right?

Hey to all the Fender-cracks,

here are some pics of my orange-sunburst RSS, I just received it today. Can you maybe tell from the pics, if it's real?

Keep in mind that FSR's (factory special runs) wont show up with regular production lists relating to serial numbers. Ive seen Fenders that are definitely Fenders, but their serial number doesnt show up, or show up as a regular production, and doesnt represent what is on the guitar itself.

That's a nice RSS sunburst. I used to really want one of those. Still wouldn't mind getting one, just because I don't have a guitar with a Floyd anymore. I did grow up in the 80's, when it was the thing to have a Floyd Rose on a guitar.

It's a Ritchy Sambora strat, and its real. The SE is probably Signature Edition, or something to that effect.

Very interesting strat. Inlays are cool, but I think the stars are rather dumb. Gibson did that on a series of Acoustic guitars that were very cheesy and that guitar didn't last long...

But that's just me. Others probably love it.

Take the pickguard, and neck off. There should be a serial number at the heal of the neck, and one in the control cavity of the body. The neck one will just back up if the neck is real, which it is. The body will either match with the neck, which means it belongs to that guitar, or it wil be different, meaning, as long as theyre fender #'s, that its a fender body, and what type it is.
