I'm not sure if you guys can help me, but...

I have read the original posts about this guitar, but I'm wondering whether or not it is worth the extra money to get one? In the UK the original standards are £629, but the 2008s are £699.

I'm tossing between the Charcoal Frost Metallic Maple FB models.

Is the newer one much better than the original one, do you think it is worth me spending more money on it?

Thanks very much.

Bobby

They're supposed to be a much better build than the pre-2008 stds. They feel better too, almost played-in.

It's odd though - in some places it's on sale for £850, yet in others it's only £699!

I don't think so, check this link - it clearly says 2008! The item description is the same as the new one's too.

Maybe some shops offer more for your money - length of guarantee, postage might be better.. if you order it online that is..

I have found the new American Standards, the Strat anyway, to be an awesome guitar and IMO well worth the money. THe redegned pickups are sweet as is the neck tint and finish. Check it out: 8)

i found it to be a great guitar, but if you get the chance, play a few and see if it is worth the money before ordering it online if possible

Nice to see the maple tint in another pic, it really doesn't show up that well in the official pics.

The new Strat is a pleasure to play, if you get one you won`t be sorry.

Well look at it this way, you could have bought an American Standard 2 or 3 years ago and got a good guitar for the money; now for the same price you're getting one with some small improvements.

Personally I'd buy one just for the new case they come with. I'd say just about ANYTHING beats those stock cases they've been giving away in recent years, the new SKB ones look great; nice and sturdy.
