Hey, thanks for all your advice.
Ive learned Gary Moore's solo from still got the blues on my acoustic guitar, this's gonna be my strat-check tool xd

updt. btw, i limited my criteria for an amp to "cheap but trustworthy valve pal" cause i don't need all these banks o' presets, 1k backing tracks, whatever. I got a DAW and a soundcard for this. You know, from an amp i just want a good warm sound to hear all my mistakes

sounds like a small 5 watt. blackstar, or fender i would reccomend

Hi Hish!
You seem thrilled by the Lone Star Deluxe. Get it. Or use it as a benchmark to compare others as you decide. Ask yourself why you want the Lone Star.
The idea is not to end up with something less than you were expecting, as guitars will last a very long time. It´s much better to wait a bit and make and educated purchase.

As for the amp, I am very impressed by the Fender FM25.
It is inexpensive and the most bang for your buck. Loud enough too!

I personally distrust amps with digital modeling features. I think the more things a box does, chances are it will do them poorly. Integrating solid state components with a digital board without the equipment becoming expensive is tricky for manufacturers.

Good luck!

Im a newb as well. I mean, neeeewb. I'm learning blues almost exclusively right now and I just got my first guitar two weeks ago. It's a Mexican-made arctic white, maple neck HSS "Fat-Strat" Stratocaster. I LOVE it!

I just bought the same guitar. Mine is a 2006 model with the 60th anniversary emblem on the back of the headstock. I love it. It's a very versatile guitar as you get the classic Stratocaster sound out of the single coils and a nasty metal sound out of the double coil.

It sounds like you've already fallen in love with the Lonestar and if you can afford it go for it! If price is an issue consider a MIM 2006 or newer. What ever you get make sure it's set up properly. An $800.00 guitar that isn't set up correctly won't play as well as an inexpensive one that is. Have you considered a Fender Mustang I as a practice amp?

Did the quality improve in 2006?

Hey....as much as I agree 100% with playing a bunch of guitars......I have to say that you should do the same with amps. Once you find the guitar that you're going to buy, try a bunch of amps. For me, I have to be comfortable with the controls and features as well as like the sound. I've tried out a number of amps that I like the sound but I need a sales guy to "drive" the amp because it's so counterintuitive.
