Never going to believe that unless we see some pics! But would be cool to be proved wrong!

21 frets and the dot spacing at the 12th fret looks wonky.

As phony as a three-dollar bill IMO.

It takes about two minutes to change a neck plate.

And they're a dime a dozen anywhere on the planet.

Genuine rosewood-neck Claptons featured a 22-fret neck.

The idea came as Eric agreed to have his signature models with a rosewood fretboard in 1991 for players disliking the feel of a maple-necked guitar. One of these (probably a prototype ? - finished in Candy Apple Green) was used by old slowhand himself during a gig at Dallas (TX) in April 25, 1990.

However, these rosewood-neck ECs didn't lasted so long; only 94 examples were made before the production finally came into a halt.

Also that second string tree on the Headstock looks suspect, the real "Blackie" had one string tree.

Yep that would be a phoney! Someone has been pilfering EC Blackie labels and applying them to other guitars me thinks!

I was at that gig!
I had turned twenty years old the week before...the concert was at Reunion Arena in Dallas (now demolished), the first of many times seeing Slowhand at that venue.
Wonderful show, one of the first shows of the Journeyman tour. If I remember correctly, he broke a string during the first or second song, and Andy Fairweather-Low ably took over for six bars or so while the guitar tech brought out another one.

The guitarist you're talking about was Phil Palmer. Andy became Clapton's backing guitarist during the second half of 1991 after Phil left the band to join Dire Straits.
