So I finally got the set of pickups in and need some of your knowledge. I have the SCN noiseless (mod shop) pickups and didn't come with any pots.

What value of pots work well (or are reccommended) for these pickups.

Thanks in advance for your help. :-)

250K for tone and volume with a .022 ufd cap. Set them low in the pickguard for best sound. I have mine set at 10/64" and 12/64" (treble/bass) for the neck and bridge, and 11/64" and 13/64" for the middle. Great quack in pos 2 & 4.

Both of my SCN Strats are configured this way.

Thamks for the help guys!

Now the question is would there be any negative to using a cap for each tone pot? I believe that the pots come with the standard .022 cap in the package. I have seen where some guys have done this (not sure if it was for the same pickups that I have though).

No, there is nothing wrong with doing this. It's how i wire up guitars for people who want me to install pickups for them, instead of using a jumper to use one cap for both pots. Plus you can choose what value you want for each pot.

Also recommend CTS Pots and PIO Caps.

If I remember right, the fender packaged pots come with the CTS pots and PIO caps. Anyone know of this for sure?

I know the guitar center i'm going to has the 250k pots in stock.

I have to say, IM really surprised that they only use 250k POTS with SCN's., most humbuckers, including stacked humbuckers like these call for 500k. I use 250 for the Dimarzio area pickups, but those reallyb are an exception. Most want 500, especially onesb like Scn's, being pretty hot, with such strong magnets.

Well I went and got the 250k pots and installed them. I am not well trained like a lot of you folks, but I think it sounds pretty damn good. I just followed the wiring diagram and it went slick. Best of all, it all works correctly. ;-)

Thanks for your help!

Fender recommends 250K pots for SCNs for one simple reason: They sound terriffic with 250K pots.

The Seymour Duncan Vintage Stack Noiseless pickups I have in my 52 Reissue Telecaster also use 250K pots. They sound terriffic too.
