I have a 2001 Fender Custom Shop Vintage Classic Player Stratocaster. It is black with a gold metal pickguard. It is in perfect condition. I cannot find any auctions or listings to see what it's worth. Can anyone help me out on this?

Keep in mind this is not a classic 50s, 60s, or 70s strat. It is just called a Classic Player Stratocaster.

How much did you pay for it? I'd think it would be worth what you paid for it or what someone is willing to pay for it.

Good luck!

Hi oneofthem,

If you post a picture or two, it would help to better identify whether the guitar is an actual Custom Shop Strat, or the MIM type which is only "Custom Shop Designed", and not an actual CS guitar.

I'm sorry I don't have a digital camera. What are the factors I should look for to find out?

Yeah that looks like right one. Thanks for the find, although I'm still unsure of it's worth, because the prices on harmonycentral.com and ebay are so different. A difference of $1,200.

Umm, the review on Harmony Central said the guitar cost $1725 in 2002. The E-Bay auction lists a current bid of $1000 for a 2005 model. That's a difference of $750, not $1200. Seems to me something around $1100 to $1200 would be a fair price.

Does the neck plate say "Custom Shop Designed", or is there a serial number? Is there a Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock?

Cool, sounds like the real deal, pictures would be helpful for a more positive ID.

Worth about $1600 or so regardless of condition. New it was around $2200.
