If you go to the Callaham guitar parts websites, they sell replacement tremolo's for strats, they have regular, and narrow string spacing. On there, it'll tell you which one to order depending on what guitar you have, that will let you know what's what.

All of the Classic Series '50s, '60s, and '70s re-issue Strats, the Deluxe Player models (including the now-OOP "Super Strat" and Deluxe Powerhouse) plus several of the artist signature instruments such as the Jimmy Vaughan, Robert Cray, and Ritchie Blackmore guitars.

Or you can ask him. The next build I do, I'm going to get callaham's narrow spacing confusion conversion tremolo. It lets you use narrower saddles and a block with the narrower string spacing unless I can get KGC to make me one of their high mass brass block with the same spacing. I like Dimarzio's virtual vintage pickups, but the pole pieces are spaced in a way that the bridge poles don't match up with the standard F-style spacing, so you have strings that are off center of the pole pieces. The conversion tremolos let you have the narrower Gibson type spacing on Strats with the wider spacing. Plus they align with humbuckers better, and you don't have to get trembuckers to get them to line up.

Thanks, I have a MIM standard, but I don´t like the narrow spacing. ¿Any know some bridge with 2-1/16 mounting spacing and 2-7/32 string spacing? I don´t like mod the guitar.

Again, you'll probably have to get a conversion tremolo, but Im not positive. The mounting screws i believe spaced different between the narrow and wide spacing.

You'll need to dowel the existing mounting holes for the 2-1/16" bridge, then tap and drill new ones for the 2-7/32" bridge. There are templates available to do this but I'd recommend the job only to a qualified luthier.

Sorry Arjay, got to disagree with you on this one. Screw all that drilling and filling. you know how much you'll be charged to do that kind of work, assuming you'll find a luthier that will want to do it? Probably $200, give or take $50, and thats just for the work, so you can drop a $100 tremolo in it. Just buy the conversion tremolo block/saddles, and plate. It'll cost you about half of what the labor is to do the holes, and you wont have to buy another tremolo. You can get a narrow spaced one for standard spaced guitars, or standard spaced for narrow spaced guitars. Plus, no one will have to drill holes, plug other holes, then leave exposed sections where you'll be able to see where it happened.
Just bight the bullet and get the conversion.

windwalker9649,

There are two different measurements on the 6-screw bridge as far as spacing: mounting screw spacing and string spacing.

There is no such thing as a 2-1/16" mounting spaced bridge plate with a 2-7/32" string spacing block and saddles. That's why you must dowel and redrill to get the wider string spacing of the the required replacement for the existing narrow mount spacing bridge.

You might be thinking vice-versa, as there is a 2-7/32" mounting spaced bridge plate with the 2-1/16" string spacing block and saddles. The Callaham VN (Vintage Narrow) is 2-7/32" mounting spacing with 2-1/16" string spacing, to get the narrow string spacing while using the existing wide spacing of the mount screws.

That may be right..
Regardless, I think he'd be crazy, or have money to burn to do this, there's just too much that can go wrong.

I just called the shop to see if there's any work that needs to be done this weekend, and one of the guys from KCG was there. They will custom make any tremolo someone wants, though its not advertised. So if you have narrow spacing, and want to go to standard, they'll do it, or vice versa. I was happy to find out they'll also make stuff for PRS, including their importsl

Speaking of PRS SE, Im curious to what their import SE line of amps will be like, especially since THESE WILL have effects loops.
