Since the Blacktop Strat (and previously, the Deluxe Acoustasonic Strat) features 22-frets; can we expect to see more 22-fret MIM Strats in the future?

I hope not, because people are going to try to pawn them off as MIA. Fender could solve many of these problems if they'd just kep the MIM and MIA verbage on the back of the neck.

There are more differences than just 21/22 Frets on MIMs and MIAs so I don't think that will start fooling people unless they are just oblivious to the details. And most Mexican and American Strats have the Country of origin on the back of the neck except the reissues

I'm guessing that it depends on the sales figures of those models. :?:

I think it would depend on how unique the MIM is in comparison to the MIA's. Even though there are other differences, I can see how a Mexican Standard Strat with 22-frets could erode sales of the American Standard. The Blacktop is a unique, albeit recycled, Strat variant. There currently is no (regular production) American equivalent to it. If the Big Apple Strat were still in production, the Blacktop would've had 21 frets. In fact, that was exactly the case when they offered the MIM Deluxe Double Fat Strat.

When I ordered my neck for a build, i debated 21 vs 22 for about a day. I went with 21. I know it doesnt probably make a difference, but i just dont like the lip they have to add to put in the extra fret. Though id rather have a lip than have to push the neck pickup closer to the bridge like they do on 24 fret. That was one of the reasons I only kept the PRS Custom 24 for a couple weeks, besides it sounding thinner than i prefer, the neck pickup sounds brighter. A lot of people would like that, but I wasnt going for that sound, i wanted the warm neck bucker sound.

Of course there are. The neck itself is labeled at the base of the neck, the nut is wider, and it has that extra fret. But the deluxe series of MIM's quality are very close to the American counterparts if not on equal ground. But many people out there are very new to instruments and only know of MIA strats, but may not know how to prove it. Hopefully, they all come here for the right answers...

Newer MiM Deluxes are 22-fretters.

Why not turn your computer off then go to a guitar store and actually PLAY ONE?

if my questions are bothering you then don't read them
I wasn't trying to get smart I just wanted to ask a few questions to people who might know more then I have read but to answer that way is wrong
