I remember for the very short period of time I owned an American Deluxe, i really liked some of the single pickup positions with the S1 pushed in, activating a "special capacitor" to change its tone, made it thicker sounding. Can anyone who owns one tell me what the values are of the capacitors inside them? I want to make a push/pull that uses whatever cap is used so I can recreate that tone. Im sure one is .022, but i dont know the other one. Even if it doenst say the value, if you can describe it, and any markings, it would be appriciated.

I've never had mine opened up and it currently has new strings that I don't want to waste. I'm surprised no one else knows this answer for you. I wonder if the caps have changed over the years.

Hi there, it is under the fender service diagram pdfs. Just look at the expanded switch diagram for the 50th deluxe anniversary 0.05uF I believe
http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... A_SISD.pdf
Hope that helps :D

It does, thanks. I want to put a push pull with a different cap value, more for the neck pickup than the bridge. I liked how the am dlx sounded at the neck w/the s1 pressed, which i believe just makes it run through the other cap.

Howdy!

The neck position on the pre 2010 Am Dlx models has the Neck & Middle pickups in series with the S-1 on.

There is no "single" pickup combinations that use the specials cap. The sound your after is in fact the the SC in parallel with the Neck, with the Middle in series (position 2).

Hope this helps

Andy

Ooops!

Forgot to mention the SC is a 0.05uf (as previously mentioned) ceramic cap.
