It seems that everyday someone is selling fake strats on ebay and craigslist... How can this be stopped? Here is a recent auction for a vintage strat neck on ebay... Look at the jacked up logo and the two non matching dates stamped on the neck! One date suggests August 2, 1998 and the other date suggests August 11, 1998.. Someone has written NOS in the neck pocket... I haver seen that before!

You or we can't do much of anything to stop them, the big companies won't do much to make individual cases out of them, the best thing is to expose their fraud on eBay and not buy anything.
But we can't educate everybody, fakers exist because there is big money in rooking uneducated people.

I hope you know that is a real Custom Shop 65 you posted the link to.

1.) the logo is correct for a 1965-67 Stratocaster
2.) often the date something is completed is different from the day it is QC'd or Assembled, you'll often find many dates on the inside of strats.

See compare that logo to the one on my CS 65 reissue

You shouldn't be so quick to yell fake if you don't know all the information

There's nothing you can do, kust like there's no way the movie stufios, who have more money tied in their legal departments than some tobacco conpanies, can't stop bootleg dvd's.
Somethibg to keep in mind; many. Of the low$ guitars you see on ebay and MOST, (this I know from emailing them and asking about the items for sale) aren't bootlegs, but B-stock parts. Real Fender and Gibson, but didn't pass QC.

The neck looks ligit, but without paperwork I'd question it.

As for fakes. Stop buying them.

To stop counterfeiters, all you need is duct tape, superglue, a few hand grenades and some imagination.

Its very simple. Follow Fender's advice and just buy new guitars from authorized dealers. Only way to know for sure its real and you are getting what you paid for.

Learn all about the details and ask Fender about the serial number first. If you have a bad feeling about the guitar/deal don´t buy.
Post fotos here, people can learn and the experts will know if the guitar is real or fake.

Cheers,
Robin

Hey guys I was looking at adding a tele to my harem and was wondering if anyone had any info on this tele. Seems like a good price but I don't know of any fenders made in Korea. The tuners should they not have an F on them also should the bridge plate not have Fender stamped into it. Any help would be appreciated thanks
