they need to bring back a strat with only a humbucker on the bridge. liek tom delonges old signature one. i love the sound of strats but i never freakin use any other pickup besides the bridge. and i dont wanna just take $@!& out or not use it because i dont want a pick up selector or anything but the volume knob. plus no whammy bars. i play simple music but i like the sound of a strat combined with that rather then what the bands i listen too usually play which is all like 95% les pauls. im making a poll to go along with this as like a petition. please agree to it.

standar strat
seymour duncan SH series.
no whammy
nothin speacial
crunchy punk and alternative strat

well taking out the single coils would defeat some of the purpose of the strat.... bands you like most likely use les pauls because they specialize in making instruments with buckers in them.... if you really want the feel of a fender i guess you're stuck with an HSS, which i think is good incase you ever decide to mix things up a bit down the road

i get what you say but you still get a way different sound from a strat with a humbucker then a les paul or any other guitar with one. and i dont know. never wrote a song or did any covers using a rythm pick up and i dont see it in the future.

The answer is: Modify, Modify, Modify.

Buy a hardtail strat.

Then buy a pickguard with whatever pickup/control configuration you want.

You can put together practically anything you can dream of. Did you ever see this at Musician's Friend?

I'm with orville, just mod away the night. I dont think it would be too hard to find the bits to make your own custom strat. A hard tail bridge and pick guard without the holes. Should'nt be too tough. Or you could contact the Custom Shop if you have the coin and get them to build one for you.

You need to learn how to solder and make your own changes and repairs to your guitars. A low watt soldering iron is very inexpensive and just what you need. There are websites with plenty of info. As long as you know which end of the soldering iron to hold, you are halfway there.

-Buy a HSS one and never move the selector switch.
-Mod one yourself.
-Get famous and get Fender to make a signature model--using your choice of pickup.
