I couldn't agree with you more. To find a specific used guitar on the GC website, you have to type in your search exactly the way they list the guitar, and they don't always know exactly what they are selling, so they don't list their guitars correctly.

Ultimately the GC website is just like looking for a guitar on Ebay. If you have patience, you will eventually find the guitar you are looking for. The problem comes when you don't know what you are looking for. Then you leave yourself open to getting scammed. Even GC, incorrectly list their gear sometimes.

The best thing to do when buying a used guitar is to do your research beforehand, and know exactly what guitar you are looking for, and features that are specific to that guitar. Also know, that even people on this forum don't always know what they are talking about, when it comes to specific features on specific guitar.

For example, my strats were all "Made in Japan", but also have a "Fender USA" neckplate. They were manufactured that way. Another person on this forum wanted to ID the same model guitar, and someone told him it was a frankenstrat. INCORRECT.

So do your homework, if you are going used. The deals are out there.

I found that you are right about the search engine.I did it several ways and found different guitars with different key words.So with that being said I have bought one out of Dallas.It should be here monday.Oly white,maple neck bone stock american standard,07-08 model year w/hard case for a total of $681.96.That is with tax and free shipping.The guy in Dallas said it still has the neck plate sticker on it and there isn't a blem on it anywhere.We will see when it arrives.I can't wait to get it.I hope it has some Stevie ray mojo on it coming from Dallas.I will update when it gets here.Thanks everyone for all of your help.

Hey all, yes gc search engine is extremely broken.However, I did try fender american, american strat, american stnd strat and fender strat.I only found using national search 5 guitars like I wanted at about $1,000 a pop.I did know exactly what I was looking for and I couldnt be hapier with what I found more importantly the fsr is as good as If I asked fender myself to build me a guitar.I also needed it pronto to play out on the weekends.As I said I sold my 08 highway one to buy a new precision bass as I thought that's what I was going to play until we found someone on bass so now I'm at home again on guitar.I am sure I could do without that pink american fender for like $500 that made me throw up in my mouth a little. My god I'm glad those colors like pink and neon green of the 80's aren't popular any more.Anyways, oly white heh! pretty cool maybe upload a picture after monday.

Freddy; I have no doubt that indeed they didnt have what you were looking for; but I wanted him to know how to find an item that may not appear at the first search, and it worked. For such a big conglomerate; GC, Musicians Friend, 321 or 123 music, you think they'd have a more forgiving search engine parameter.

She came today and just like the guy in Dallas said there isn't a mark on it.It looks great.I am going to change the strings to a heavier gauge and set it up the way I like it then it's time to really test her out and see if she found a new home or if I need to start the search over.Again thanks to everyone who gave me great input.I will post some pics when I get a chance.

If that's the North Dallas GC, those guys are great. I've been there while on business and a friend of mine has bought dozens of guitars from them (literally). If they say it's great, it's great.
