Ok. So I ordered (sight unseen) a new guitar from one of these cookie cutter music stores and now it's backordered. They can't seem to give me even the smallest clue to when they might get one. Does anyone know if the lonestar strats are discontinued? I was told that for money I can essentially get the same guitar as a road worn model. Except they don't really stock anything but the basic models. Thanks GC.

Buy guitars from a shop after you've played them...

Old school I know, and you might pay a few more dollars/pounds/euros, but it's the only way to go.

The thought of handing over your cash and not walking out with the instrument is unfathomable. The thought of trusting someone else to select a box and then trusting it to the mail or a careless delivery guy who doesn't give a damn is beyond unfathomable.

How many guitars bought on-line are returned I wonder? They rely on you keeping them because what you get is sort of what you want (if you're lucky) and way too much aggro to return. It won't be set-up, you'll get no freebies, but more importantly - you won't have held it in your hands and listened to it's voice..

Hi

The Deluxe Lonestar Strats are still listed on the Fender website so should still be available.

Recently the Highway One Telecasters were removed from the site as it is believed that they have been discontinued.

Contact Fender at consumerrelations@fender.com and ask them if they are still being made.

If it is backordered can you cancel the order and shop elsewhere?

I very rarely buy a guitar without playing it first. You might consider requesting a refund and playing a bunch of guitars to see what you really want.

The local place only carries MIM standards and American standards. So my choices are a little limited for variation. It's Guitar Center's policy.
