Arghhh! I can't believe it - I know exactly what I want but can't get it this year. Gloss black nitrocellulose finish, Maple fretboard, Texas Specials, Large Headstock, 9.5" neck radius, old school hardshell case. They don't make this one this year. The Highway One is close, but I don't now if I will like the flat black finish. When will the '12s be out?

Guitars are not like cars when it comes to new model years. Watch for the NAMM shows thats when they bring out some new models.

Chances are you're not going to find that exact combination unless you go through the Custom Shop and that will be time consuming and expensive. You would either have to settle for something else or buy one of the models that have a nitro finish and mod it to your specifications. If you're interested in a Highway One, I'd say you better make a move pretty soon because the rumor is that they're being discontinued. They've got a reputation for being a good value for the money.

As far as I know, the only production models with nitro finishes are the American Vintage and maybe Vintage Hot Rod lines, and probably certain Artist models.

If you want that exact combination, try going to somewhere like warmoth. It won't be fender but you can custom design it for much less than a fender custom shop.

Get the Hwy 1 and buff the body and their you go.

I own a black '07 Hwy. What I did was take some rubbing compound, cotton t-shirt and some eblow grease to shine mine up. The body looks just like an old black Strat from the '50s. It has a maple neck and large headstock so I changed out all the white parts with black ones and now it looks very much like a early '70s Strat. You can see pictures at my Facebook page.

I would just do the same thing and add your own parts. Good luck!

Did you not just describe an American Special? Sure you have to pay extra for the HSC, but its worth it.
