Just interested in peoples opinions on the perfect amp for a strat.

forget effects for abit and shall we say...

1. best for clean tone?

2. best for overdriven?

Im using my first amp at the moment, a 10 watt, yeah count 'em... 10 watt yamaha. Im saving for a marshall vintage modern 2466. purple

This is more of an individual taste.

The perfect amp for one may be a total dud to another.

Amp preferences probably have more to do with the style of music you play instead of the type of guitar. The best amp for a strat in my humble opinion would be either a mid 60's Super Reverb or a mid 60's Twin. For clean strat tone the Twin is my choice, dirty tone is the Super Reverb.

This being said, I play classic rock, blues, jazz and swing. If you play metal, my choices won't work for you at all.

It's really a personal thing, no right or wrong answers.

I'm partial to my 65 Deluxe Reverb...Beautiful clean sound, and breaks up nicely when driven...and a Fender blender or a TS808 od pedal and you have the perfect setup for the blues...IMO

My perfect would be the DeVille 410. It has everything I need. But there's only one drawback to it though. It's only solid state driven but I wish the reverb was alittle stronger. I think I'm fixin' to be in the market for a reverb tank.

As far as an older amp, I think I would have to pick the Bassman. This is why I have a DeVille 410 now, I guess it's the closest thing I could get to it.

In my experience, I'd vote for the DRRI (but I seriously need to BUY one of those things!). But I admit I've never played through a Bassman. I also have to say that I have a Reverend Goblin that can cover a wide range and make my Strat sound pretty sweet.

Where do you get the HRD 410 is solid state ?
Check it out ..

Hot Rod DeVille™ 410

Four 10” speakers deliver big, bright tone! Our Hot Rod DeVille 410 sends 60 scorching watts straight into a quartet of 10” Fender Special Design Eminence speakers, courtesy of two 6L6 Groove Tube output tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes. Yikes!

In my opinion there are two amps that fit your bill. The first is the Fender BMRI. The second is the DRRI. In that order. If you got the cash blowing a whole in your pocket you can check out Carr.

A DRRI sounds very good with a Strat.

A good quality tweed clone (5E3 circuit), like a Victoria, Clark Beaufort, etc., sounds REALLY good.

My custom-built tweed Princeton (5F2A circuit) clone sounds awesome in the studio, but would not be loud enough to play live.

I have a Blues Jr Relic with the Jensen P12R. It is afforable Fender Bliss.
15 watts not loud enough? Mike it thru the PA.

deluxe reverb non master volume.
last amp you will ever need.
no effects no bs.
buy it right now it's like 800 bucks new.
This amp is exactly the way electric guitar is supposed to sound- you can get any sound out of it. Try it, i'm sure your local music store has several. Set one on standby for like 15 minutes, and then plug in at 4 volume. Set the tone controls somehwere between 1-5. If you want more gain the knob goes up 6 more numbers. No modeling bs or effects, just your and your guitar. THIS IS THE BEST AMP EVER MADE!
