I have a Strat, a Les Paul and a Charvel all bought for various reasons, mostly for different sounds, but I'm gassing for another Strat because they're flat out the best looking guitars ever. Just look at all the guitars copied off of them, my Charvel included.

Well I guess it's about time I participate in this great forum on one of my favorite subjects!

I've got an amber "Crafted in Japan" Aerodyne Strat that fits like a glove and plays like butter. What would I want to complement it? I'm thinking of putting together a replica of Pete Townshend's axe - red EC Strat with a Fishman Power Bridge so I can get acoustic sounds and switch to electric without swapping guitars. Of course, with my budget it will probably originate as a Squier (preferably CIJ), MIM or a partscaster...

Great topic and replies, guys. It really makes the palms sweat and the wallet weep!

no offense to the people who own multiple strats but i just dont see the point. I would rather get a new guitar that was a different model then the same one

Oh....you have to love the newbies.........(you obviously are not aquainted with the many collectors/maniacs on this board....or ANY Fender themed board for that matter!)

My next Strat will be my 13th!!!!????!!

(If one is blessed with the financial means OR available credit....WHY NOT??!! Heck....I could be spending it on a barstool somewhere....like many out there!)

They ALL sound different!!
Each one has it's own vibe and sound!!

And besides....who can own only ONE Stratocaster anyway!!
Being a Stratocaster lover borders on obsession........a very NICE obsession!

You nailed it with this comment, HW1.

I have 5 strats and each has a different vibe, sound and feel - even the 2 Highway Ones that are the same model.

I think having 2 strats is a bare minimum. What happens when one is in the shop or out of order? You must always have access to a strat. It should be in the guitar player's bill of rights.

I would probably rather have 2 MIM standard strats than 1 MIA standard strat. Just for the variety and above mentioned benefits for the same price.

I have my first Strat now, an American Standard. My second will be...

A David Gilmour Relic.

I'm saving for it right now. I'll probably order it in about 6-8 months.

Agreement with previous page; after an American Standard, a Surf Green 50s maple board, single-layer pickguard, staggered poles MIM is a true sweetheart.

Very, very close in this opinion to what a real one of the time was like.

+1

Install a set of CS 57/62 pickups, replace the pot-metal alloy trem block with cold-rolled steel, and you are there.

Second Strat? I'm thinking about American Standard - Sunburst, or maybe I will invest more money to some Custom Shop...

If you prefer a slightly beefier tone with thicker mids, I'd recommend the CS Fat 50's. This set has a RW/RP middle pickup so you enjoy the bonus of hum cancelling in positions 2 & 4.

My second Strat was an American Standard because it sold for a good price used. My first was a Mexican made Strat Standard, because I loved the chime I could get from those pickups. Both Strats were highly susceptible to hum, so my third Strat IS the American Deluxe with N3 pickups. Very close to the chime of the other two with no hum; the other two have new owners.

The Jaguar Strat from '99, nothing beats the green/interior wood combo, plus it's endlessly cool to a British person.

I just bought my second Strat, a Mexican 2006 Standard HSS Stratocaster in white with a maple fretboard. I love it. My first Strat was my first guitar, a red 1985ish Squier Stratocaster with a single humbucker and a Gibson 24.75 inch scale. I still have it.
