I used to have two Strats :( .....but moving forward, I would love to get an American Deluxe HSS Strat with a maple board. Otherwise, I might just pick up a Blacktop........for now  .

I have two Strats, and plan on getting one of those Black Tops in the near future. I like the black one. I think I'll do a few things to enhance it cosmetically, and maybe tweak it's playability. I dig the pick-up configuration, but I'm still leaning towards some black P-90's.

no offense to the people who own multiple strats but i just dont see the point. I would rather get a new guitar that was a different model then the same one

It's all about love; but to each his (or her) own. IMO, if you are only going to have two Strats you should get one standard (sss) and a fat Strat. My US Lonestar was the perfect companion to my American Standard because it not only had the humbucker at the bridge, it also had different single coils (Texas Specials) so there was some variation on the theme. I even took it step further and modified the wiring so I could get a Tele sound in the 3rd position. For someone like me who has a Strat addiction, I would easily get like 4 or 5 Strats before I looked at other guitars.

Possibly the Blacktop Strat, Sonic Blue/Maple Fretboard. It looks really cool with the amp knobs & chrome pickups... I've had my American Standard for a little over a year & love it... But for beefy Humbucker tones & Strat comfort at a really good price, I'm into the MIM Blacktop series.

I was originally considering the American HSS, but I plan to test drive a Black Top soon & decide then.

I see your point about different guitars but some players, after trying several guitars through the years find a body style that really suits them.

The cool thing about Strats is that there are different models. Between the MIM & MIA Strats you can have SSS, HSS, or HH.

I personally like the comfort of the body of a Strat & the C-Shaped necks. That's why I'd buy another. I currently have an American Standard SSS. So if I buy another, I'll get one with Humbuckers so they can both be used for different things. I wouldn't buy another SSS just to have a different color though. I agree with you that I want my guitars to be different in some ways "tonally" but I like to keep the bodies Strat stlye.

Really it all boils down to what you like in a guitar. Strats "to me" are comfortable to play whether I'm sitting or standing. They look cool, sound great, & play great...

In terms of different name brands of guitars though, I really like the Charvel Pro Mod So-Cals. They are really cool Japanese made hot-rodded Strats. IMO Japanese craftsmanship of guitars is second to none. I have an original "1988 model" Ibanez RG 550 that was made in Japan. I bought it in 1990 & the quality is great. In fact the quality is every bit as nice as my American Standard Strat...

We all as players have the never ending "wish list". So many guitars, so little money...

Let's see....The next Strat would become the 5th (fith (filth)

(1) 2001 CS NOS 56 time machine, vintage feel and vintage sound.
(2) 2001 MIM Crimson Red modded to SCN pups. Modern Indie sound.
(3) 2011 Stratopartster I, complete build, body and neck refinish, Vintage pups, TBX pots. Pure R+B/Soul machine
(4) 2011 Stratopartster II, complete build, neck and fret redressing, Standard 70's pups, Seymour Duncan HB split coil, 1 Vol. 1 Tone. Crunch time sound. ( Off with their Heads..! )

Number 5 is coming home in a couple weeks. Translucent blue Aerodyne with Seymour Duncan's, rosewood neck. Classic 60's Laurel Canyon sound. ( which encompasses a very wide musical range).

Counterpoint...!!

My second Stratocaster was an American Special. I have more than 2 strats now.

Highway 1: HSS Configuration. Dimarzio SD wired with a coil split, Reverse wound AlNico III middle, AlNico III in neck, White Perloid pick guard, Black plastic pieces, large Headstock, Fender Schaller tunners, 500k pots, and Dunlop Strap Locks.

American Special: SSS configuration. Mostly stock, TS pickups, Fender/Schaller locking tunners, Dunlop Straplocks, and Black Plastic pickup covers and knobs.

Blacktop Stratocaster: HH configuration. AlNico 5 Humbuckers. Locking tunners, and Tele Knobs.

Squier Stratocaster HM. HSS configurations. Floyd Rose Standard. Fender Strap Locks.

Each guitar is different, yet each is similar to play. My collection would not be complete without these guitars. And none of them sound alike.

My 2nd Strat was a '78 Lefty sunburst with a maple neck that I had strung right handed. It had an ash body and weighed in at 11 lbs.My next Strat will be number 7 and will be most likely a 60's reissue.

Second Strat... well, for me it will the next Strat since I'm up to three now. So, my first was my Am Deluxe HSS. I bought it 'cause it was such a good deal.. At the time, I was looking at a CP '50s and, after awhile, I got the CP '50s, so it ended up being my second Strat. So, I figured I had all the bases covered -- modern type HSS Strat and a vintage type with the CP '50s.

Well, then I was looking for something to mod and ended up with one of those FSR Sunfire Strats. (Its still stock but changes are in the works.)

So, what's next? I'd love to have a CAR vintage type Strat without spending a bunch of $$. I'd be awfully tempted if they made a Classic '50s in CAR.. Closest option right now is a Jimmy Vaughan Strat in CAR... very tempting... Another option -- I could go the '60s route and get a Classic '60s in CAR...

While I don't want another Strat, I do want a second EJ neck!

Once I find an decent, affordable neck the rest I can do myself and I'll likely install it into a tele body.

My next store-bought guitar will probably be a Gibson.

Oh....you have to love the newbies.........(you obviously are not aquainted with the many collectors/maniacs on this board....or ANY Fender themed board for that matter!)

My next Strat will be my 13th!!!!????!!

(If one is blessed with the financial means OR available credit....WHY NOT??!! Heck....I could be spending it on a barstool somewhere....like many out there!)

They ALL sound different!!
Each one has it's own vibe and sound!!

And besides....who can own only ONE Stratocaster anyway!!
Being a Stratocaster lover borders on obsession........a very NICE obsession!
