I'm looking at putting new pickups in my Mexi Strat. I have a Seymour Duncan Little 59 in one of my guitars and really love the sound I get from it, but on my other strat I want to try something a little differant. Does anyone know anything about Wilkinson pickups? I also thoought about using Fralins ( I live right outside of Richmond, VA) so I can go to the factory on Laburnum ave and check them out in person. So back to the Wilkinsons, has anyone here tried them, or know someone who has?
Thanks,
Lile

Wilkinson pickups are good industrial stuff.

They're not the best you can buy, but Trevor Wilkinson is no fool. He makes a very reasonable PAF a-like (designed with Seth Lover) and his med output single coils are good too. Of late he seems to be expanding his line, which is a good thing. They're fitted as standard on the Vintage brand of 'me too' guitars, distributed by John Horny Skewes, of which I have a few. On the rare occasions I've swapped a 'better' p/up on to one of my Vintage guitars, I've regretted it after.

You can't compare them with Lindy Fralins - those boutique pickups are in a different price league all together. But I would argue that the extra performance is not necessarily worth the extra clost on a budget to medium price range guitar.
