i agree with the dude that talekd about only making vintage guitars. that kinda goes along with the thread i made about the strat. they need to blend their sound with a more modern scene. i bet they could get some really good freakin machines out of that.

Has Fender lost touch with guitarists? Are the accountants running the company? Discuss.

If accountants were running Fender then we'd see more guitars in the price range of Mosrite, PRS and Gibsons which would I classify as starting at $1,800.00 for a premium model and going beyond $4,000.00. Granted Fender Custom Shop, Limited Editions and purposely distressed guitars to look like a genuine vintage celebrity's model can go that high but that's not for everyone either. The Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster is an excellent Mexican import. The Highway-1 offers you a great value for an American made instrument that I would gladly hold up against any brand in the same price range. You can pretty much get the best that Fender has to offer for what a Mosrite, PRS or Gibson's premium models start at. And you can't tell me that Fender has not been inovating. My first Strat was an '83 MIJ domestic. It was a great little guitar that got me started in the world of music. There has been a lot of innovations that I have personally seen and felt since then. Fender has listened to the words of their players both Pro and Am and have made a wide range of models to accomodate almost any budget and style. To me they have kept in touch with their consumers more than any other guitar manufacturer.

Methinks the HSS was the result of listening to their customers. As was the double humbucker in the 2008 model.

But, I never thought Fender was the issue...IMHO Squier's got an issue right now.

(At least look at it this way...they've got this nifty message forum! There's some poor slob out there who has to go through some of these posts! Ha!)
