Has Fender lost touch with guitarists? Are the accountants running the company? Discuss.

Answer: A small boat with a small electric motor that goes about three knots?

Fender is very in touch with its' customer base. Accountants generally manage the financial affairs of a company.

What are you saying?

Your English is fine. You are entitled to your opinions... but how so? Please be more specific.

Frankly, if any company IS in touch with guitarists, in my honest opinion, it would surely be Fender.

fender seems to keep on making the same guitars for years, it would be nice to see them make a guitar that doesn't feel so vintage. im sure someone has suggested making a new model or maybe someone's even complained about it but fender seems to keep on making guitars that will make them more money.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Fender makes the guitars that guitar players like, even if it takes making the same guitar for 60 years.

Not being a metal fan when I think of metal I think dual humbucker guitars not 3 single coil guitars.
Perhaps one of the Strats with a humbucker in it?

you don't need humbuckers or a floyd rose to play metal. i play heavy industrial stuff on my strat. it has a vintage trem, and 3 single coils.

i couldn't imagine playing another guitar. i can play metal, and then switch to blues, just by altering my tuning. only on a strat could that happen.

I think that Fender is way more in touch with its customers than many companies. definately way more than Gibson. Gibson just doesn't make many guitars that are affordable for your average player. I looked at their site one day, and they were describing a guitar as an affordable les paul. yet, the price was still $1800.

Of course, Fender doesn't have the customer contact that other, smaller companies, like Carvin. But for one of the industry leaders, I think they do an excellent job.

I think that if you want a metal guitar, the Fender Custom Shop will build it for you.

OK - now I think I know where headbangerman is coming from. I started reading about Floyd Rose equipped Fenders and thought... let's see what's available... well unless I'm missing something, the only piece I could find was a standard?

There's plenty of guitar makers out there who make guitars for metalheads. Why not buy one of those? If you don't like those other makers guitars thats not Fenders fault, is it?

Fender has a huge customer base that is perfectly happy with Fender products as they are. Why would Fender want to mess with that?

You should find a manufacturer that makes a guitar with hot as can be active pups and a real cool metal look. That's just not Fenders thing.

By the way, there's plenty of metal being played out there on Fender guitars.

It's like (as it says down there) John Mayer said. It was always right from the start, they haven't had to change it. They have changed it, for my variety, but not because it needed improvements.

But the point is, if you want to play rip-your-balls-off metal, then don't use a strat! If you really want to use a strat then it seems you want it more for the looks doesn' it..? Maybe that's what metal music is about, hence the XYZ shaped guitars and the dark clothing, bad hair and copious amounts of studs all over the body. But the music that Fender is made for, is all about the music. Nothin' else.
