You would have to remove the neck from the body to adjust the trussrod.
Maybe you have to take it to a luthier if you can´t(won´t) do it yourself.
The Eric Johnson Stratocaster necks are very stable(because they are quartersawn), so chances are great you won´t have to adjust the trussrod even not when changing strings to a different gauge.

Cheers,
Robin

Just loose the fourth screws and you can turn the truss rod . You should know what to do before that.

You'll still have to adjust the truss rod, even on a quarter-sawn, just not as often. Mine has one, the first few years you'll have to adjust it, again, it is a much more rigid neck than a regular cut neck. After a few years, you'll have to adjust it less and less. It's not just string gauge changes, when you go from winter to summer you'll have to. The relief in the neck tends to diminish in the summer when its humid, to a greater or lesser degree depending on how much finish is on the neck. Mine i had the finish shot on, i got it sans any finish, the EJ has a good amount on the neck. You'll probably meet a little more resistance on turning it, due to the rigidity. I say jump in and do it yourself; as long as you're not doing it like you're trying to take the lid off a jar, and only do it real small turns, like 1/8th of a turn incriments, you wont hurt anything. If your trying to straighten in, turn it clockwise, give it more relief; counter clockwise. Also, if your straigtening it (clockwise) give it a little turn CCW first, then turn it clockwise.

Strats and Tele's are the easiest guitars to setup (though the tremolo's, and setting height and intonation can be a bit of a pain at first). But unless you need to address the nut-slots, or frets, it's pretty difficult to mess it up to the point a little adjustment cant fix.

Don't be scared....

You shouldn't have to even take the neck completely off. Just put your hand under the strings by the pickups, give it a little tension upward, loosen the strings up, then slap a capo at the first fret, with your other hand giving it tension, the capos so the strings don't flop around. Take the screws closest to the tremolo springs off, then loosen the top two enough so you can tilt the neck up enough to get to the screw. This is the easiest way, you don't want to take the strings off, even if you plan on channging them, because your going to need to tune them back to pitch to see if you adjusted the neck enough, and you don't want to waste a new set checking it, use the old ones to do that.

I've had my EJ for four years now and haven't had to touch the neck. In fact, I can put it in it's case and leave it for for weeks at a time without having it go out of tune.

It's definitely the most stable guitar I've ever had.

They difinitely are, but diffrent situations lead to different results. I have a quartersawn neck, but I shaved some treble side shoulder off, so it goes from a V, to an almost slight assymetrical, and I have a really thin finish, so the elements affect it more. Plus I changed string gauges a few time. I live in new england, so there have been some wild swings in temp/humidity. They have much more finish on the EJ necks, so that protects it more. Anyway, results vary. He feels that he may need to at some point, might as well let him know how so he doesn't have to pay a luthier $70 for a full setup.
Definitely not a knock on them though, I think they're the best built & thought out production/non-custom shop strat they make. Matter of fact, I based a lot of my neck on it, and I shaped the profile and thinned the headstock myself similiar to it I liked it so much. If I were to buy a strat, which I don't see happening, I can build what I want, but sometimes a deal comes by I won't pass up, it'd be one of those.

Had to edit my spelling, didnt want it to distract from the rest of the post.
