As a Fender fan for over 35 years having owned several Strats and Tele's as well as an original 63 Jazzmaster I can honestly say that I am seriously disappointed with the poor quality of the MIM instrument.
The low quality pick-ups (which in fact one of the magnets on one of the pups had come unglued from the pup base and had fallen off, found during a major cleaning of the guitar) The fret-board looks very porous so to speak, not like cracking but very small holes is the best way to describe it, and its not related to drying of the wood material. One of the machine heads little plastic collar that sits between the tuning key and the mount disintegrated and fell out it doesn't cause any issue but its noticeable by feel when tuning.
To make the guitar actually playable took 2 shims to bring the neck into a better position. The finish around the neck mount has cracked (which incidentally is how I discovered the pup magnet issue. The guitar was disassembled to check the condition of the body to be sure it wasn't a failure in the wood causing the cracking in the finish, luckily it was just poor finishing) The only reason I purchased the guitar was the deal came with the Roland synth module included as well as a spare Roland pup at an unbeatable price and to replace my 2 beloved American made Strats that I lost in a house fire.
The MIM Strat is now in playable mode without totally hating it but I find it disheartening to think Fender for the love of money would lose site of quality even on outsourced production. I am still Fenders #1 fan no matter what though

I hate to hear about the problems you've had with that guitar. Hope you have some better luck after all that has happened with the fire and now this.

Anyway, welcome to the forums!!
