Hi all...

I'm at it again with a new project... does anyone know if the tuner holes on the HWY 1 necks are the same size as the posts for "F" tuners? Are they smaller, bigger...is there a conversion bushing? Thanks...

Tuners are standard 10 mm Pings.

Pardon my lack of knowledge but it that the same size hole as needed for fender "f" tuners? I've been looking around for some tuner specs but haven't found anything yet...

If you are talking about the F tuners on 70s reissues, then you will need conversion busings. The holes are not the same

Hey JamGuy....as the owner of 8 Highway One's who has changed ALL the crappy Ping tuners on ALL of them.....may I make an easy-as-pie suggestion.
On ALL of my guitars I have installed the Fender/Schaller locking tuners (MUCH better than the "F" tuners...IMHO) and they were a dirict DROP-IN replacement. No mucking about with conversion bushings...blah...blah...blah...
A 10 minute modification....that made a world of difference!!

Aside from the new pickups I put in all of them......this was the best mod!!

Hi HWY1Strat,

Just curious what pups you replaced your Highway 1's with. Been considering doing the same for awhile, but the jury is still out on replacements

Thanks for the tip... I ended up ordering a set. I was reading some nightmarish tales of retrofitting "F" tuners on some guitars. Seems that even with the conversion bushings, the tuners overlap and don't fit right due to the hole spacing. Thanks for saving me the headache and suggesting the locking tuners. Cheers...

If anyone's interested you can follow my build project on the "New Strat Build" thread...
