I've got a MIM Strat with a neck that defies my every effort to make it play the way I want it to. Lower the action in the high register, string buzz in the lower register. Tweak the truss rod to do away with lower string buzz, it goes to the high end. I think it's time to move on, so...

I have a '95 MIM Tele neck that plays wonderfully no matter what guitar it is on - it's been on several other Teles. Can I make it work on the Strat? I know I would have to round the corners off the butt of the neck very carefully to make it fit the Strat body. Will the neck plate holes match up once I get the contour right?

The measurement above the last fret to the butt of the neck is the same on both necks and measuring from the nut to the butt shows a little less than 1/32" difference in the lengths. I've seen plenty of Strats with Tele necks through the years. I'm a professional woodworker with all the necessary tools. Can it be done with the two necks I have?

Thanks!

In a word, yes. Also, from what I've been seeing with on some Strat bodies of late is that those corners are already such that you MAY not have to rout. However, you will definitely have to reshape the pickguard in that area.

Thank you. I guess the next step is to get those necks off and start fitting. I will take pics as I go and see what happens. Thanks again.
