Howdy y'all...got a 96 Tex Mex and am looking for a wiggle stick (tremolo arm for those who have a problem with highly technical industry terminology)  :D

Is it possible anyone can help that has any experience trying to replace one of these little doodads? Would the All Parts standard Mexi 12.00 job work? Or the Musicians Friend? Guitar Center seems to carry them, so I guess my question is, with about 137,000 varieties of Strats, would the wiggle sticks germane to the point of manufacture cover all of those particular models? An American arm for all American Strats or Mexi or Korean?

Thanks beforehand for any help!!!

Blessings...Steve

Go to Callahams site. They have them, and you can order it in 3 lengths, short like David Gilmour uses( i have one but dont use it much) an '64 which is in between the short and standard length (this is the one I use all the time, its a perfect size), and a standard length. They're about $15, and better quality than most out there.

The tex mex was the precursor to the Jimmie Vaughan strat. I know the JV uses American Vintage Hardware, so more than likely you will need a Trem arm from a vintage type american trem.

I *think* you need the 5.5mm tremolo arm for Mexican Strat.

Call Guitar Parts Resources to be sure - 740-467-2823

We call 'em kickstands too.

The ordinary trem arm for a MIM (6mm thread) doesn't work. (I have one fromGFS) You will need one that fits a vintage trem. Let me know where you get it from. I too have a Tex Mex Strat with no "wiggle stick"

Stew-mac has them here, but i haven't tried one:

This one is Fender for a vintage trem from MF with creme tip, but I don't know if it fits, yet:

First, thank you everyone for the input and ideas. I just got off the phone with Fender...hey, why not, as we did have a ball o' confusion (Sorry Temptations) happenin'...

And, by the way, Fender was extremely helpful and very assistomatic

My Tex Mex guitar, though it has a '96 serial is actually a "leftover" so a '97 on a technicality. The wiggle sticks needed for these are the "American Vintage" models as those were the bridges they used. The part # is 0992039000 for the assistomaticness   of my fellow shoppers.

Blessings...Steve

Steve,

I would think the simplest solution would be for you to take your Strat into a local but better musical instrument store. By doing so, most likely they'll have an assortment of what we call in my 'neck of the woods', "wang bars" and you'll be able to get the proper fit the first time.

So here's the latest. Got the part I ordered that Fender said would be the correct piece of the puzzle...an American Vintage wiggle stick. No go...too small. Called Fender back and they took my address and said that they would fix the problem. The wiggle stick melodrama continues. Maybe they'll send me a wiggle stick with the right guitar attached to it...

More later...blessings...s

Just got the present from Fender...this one for the MIM Strat. No go. At least it was free!!! The search goes on...to be continued  :? 8)

JP...unless you have a Fender part number for that suggestion, I believe that is the one I ordered after talking to Fender the first time.

Martian...please...dude...you don't think I tried that already?

Once again, I refer you to my original post in this thread. You would have had the appropriate one a long time ago. :?

I know you think you know everything. On every post I initiate on this forum you seem to feel the need to dazzle me with this knowledge. But every time you do, you are either wrong or telling me something I already know while neglecting to answer my question. Three times now you have posted the suggestion that I go and drag my guitar around to music stores and look through boxes of orphaned tremolo arms. You don't seriously think I haven't done that already? Do me a favor...ignore the posts I initiate. I would sincerely appreciate it.
