Made in Korea ist klar. Baujahr müsste laut Serialnumber 1984 sein. Korpus-Holz, Pickups, Bridge usw. unklar???
Hals ist Ahorn. Gotoh Tuner.

Hi musw2008,

No spreche Deutsch. But if I did, I would say that posting pictures might help identify your Strat.

You might try here for Deutsch. :)

Until one of our Forum German speakers comes along, here is a machine translation:

Hi, I've got a Fender Stratocaster from the 80's and a lot of questions.

Made in Korea is clear. Serial number indicates 1984. Body-wood, pickups, bridge etc. unclear?

Neck is maple. Gotoh tuners.

Afraid I don't know the answers. Anyone?

Though - a Korean Strat from 1984? That don't sound right...

Cheers - C

Nice looking! The "E1" serial numbers were used on Japanese and Korean guitars from 1984 to 1987. A picture of the neck pocket might help identify the type of wood used, as there were many types used over the years, including alder, ash, basswood, agathis, and more, even plywood on the Squiers.

Great necks on those 80s Korean models. :)

Edit:
The ST-357 on the neck heel indicates a 57 style guitar.

Hallo,

Using a translator, it appears that you are talking about "pickup trucks"?

So, someone tell me (in English would help). Fender Japan we know all about. But when did production first start in Korea, please? And do we know which factory? The famous (infamous) one, or another?

Cheers - C

Hmm. So machine-translating it back to English I get:
shimmilou approximately wrote:
Ince est un somes my unterstadning arounded 1984 produktor moven a devout Japan Korea. Ei'm Notten suren aboute names of Faktory.

We could do that a couple more times and invent a whole new language. The high speed version of Chinese whispers. Congratulations, Google Translator. I shall be using that site with an even larger pinch of salt from this moment on.

Anyhow. So did the first company approved Fenders come out of Korea before or after Japan? It's a corner of the history I'm not finding in the books... (You could give the answer in Korean, if you wish.)

Cheers - C

Sorry about that Ceri, I actually just made that up, not really German. Although you are correct, Google translator leaves a lot to be desired. I get different translations depending on which translator that I use, and not sure which is the most accurate. I think that as far as authorized Fender products Japan was first, then some models that were made in Japan started being made in Korea around '84. Of course there were probably unofficial versions/copies made before that. And, I believe that it was the unofficial copies that probably prompted Fender to make lower-cost versions themselves to begin with.
