Anyone ever seen these before? I bought this back in the mid 1980's in military days, but it's been in my attic for years!! Any info would be appreciated!

News to me but it looks like a nice guitar with all the "right" appointments. If I'd seen one of these while deployed o'seas during this era I definitely would've grabbed one (or more).

Is there supposed to be a real guitar that matches the cardboard cutout picture? :?

I remember these, they are card board cutouts with various models photographed on to them...hence the Next Best Thing...it is supposed to be tongue in cheek kind of thing. No actual guitar...I almost got one of these but just never got around to it.

Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, I think you're right T2Stratman, these seemed to have been very much tounge in cheek! I think this guitar does actually exsist (just not in my collection unfortunately!!) but wouldn't have a clue as to its where abouts!!

They had a whole line of these...Les Pauls, Teles, etc.,. This was in response to the outlandish prices of Vintage Guitars and yep certainly a little tongue in cheek kind of thing, that is why they came with a Certificate and History!

Here is a picture of the Les Paul version...this one even autographed by Les Paul!

Enjoy!
