Vlad; have you ever played one of these Am Dlx? I just wonder how the P90's sound in the Strat?

Not yet- I've been meaning to get hold of one for some time... but not quite managed it yet! I'd imagine it sounds similar to a Les Paul Junior, potentially a '59 model, but with a bit of added bite thanks to the bolt-on properties... or something.

I played a JA-90 Thinline Telecaster with SP90 Seymour Duncan pups today. As I was hoping, I got some real nice blues sounds out of it. Not your typical Tele. I want it but can't think of an excuse for getting it.

Believe me, I'm working on it.
Plan/Excuse #1: Have it delivered to my office, (like so many other purchases). This way I have a guitar to practice with at work, (my secretary will love me). Plus, I buy time until I can convince the wife I really needed this. The only problem with this plan is if she finds out I actually bought it before convincing her, I 'm in deep doodoo because of past "Plans" that went awry. I once bought a Porsche without telling her, took about 2 years to iron that one over.

They're Firebirds...apparently none of you like southern rock. Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynyrd had one, because Eric Clapton rocked one with Cream for a little while. Rickey Medlocke from Blackfoot had one. Neil Young put a Firebird pickup in his Black Les Paul...can't get any dirtier sounding than him. It's a little over the top for most people, but there's a place for it.

Nope NOT Firebirds...Those are great, I am talking about a late 70s or early 80s FIREBRAND guitars by Gibson. They were solid mahogany or walnut, weighed a ton, had some crappy overly gainey pickups, and the headstock was Huge! The necks were ok and had ebony fretboards with pearl dots. They did les pauls, SGs, 335s, and some had the Gibson on the headstock branded in like on a horse, which did I mention they weighed about the same as!   They should have called them the "FIREWOOD" series as that was all they were good for. Never heard one that sounded worth a crap. IMHO of course. Google it you will see what I mean.

Okay, I looked.....WOOF! What the heck were they thinking? Guess they must have looked okay with a background of orange shag carpet. Funny thing about Gibson, some of the models they're turning out today harken back to the late '70s when taste was unheard of.

They weren't thinking at all on that one...You maybe right about the Orange Shag Carpet though! To be fair, these guitars had potential, just poor execution by Gibson. I also think this was their "Lets get back to nature" series of the late 70's or so, with the clearn satin finish and back to basics hardware...they just didn't use the right parts!

I have a buddy that has TWO of the Les Paul models but of course he also traded a '64 Gibson Sunburst ES345 (that was simply a stunning playing/sounding guitar) for a '68 Guild Starfire V! He's a great guy, but sometimes I do wonder about him!

FSR guitars are made by Fender in limited quantities for (and usually to the requested specs of) and authorized dealer. This guitar was made for Elderly in Lansing, Michigan and comes in two colors.

That thing actually looks really cool. I can see like some indie rock band using that axe!

I have a pic of one of those for my computer background photo's. I've often wondered what it was, but now I know. To me, its almost a LP Special verision of a Fender Strat. Probably sounds awesome too.
