Fender decidedly made a truly one-of-a-kind guitar, the Stratosonic Rattlecan Stratocaster Junior.

This Factory Special Run guitar features a sleek mahogany body finished in Peacock Green and Jalea Red, a 24-3/4" scale length 22-fret maple neck with rosewood fretboard, pearloid dots, single P-90 bridge pickup, amber tone and volume knobs, chrome plug where toggle switch would go, Tec-Tonic adjustable bridge, chrome tuners and a brown shell pickguard.

Essentially it's a Strat wearing an Epiphone Coronet suit.

:o Man, so many things wrong about that Str.....Gib.....um, guitar. Almost like an unholy union of Gibson and Fender. An edge jack? Why!?!?

Is the "Special" in this particular FSR the same as in the Special Olympics? (JK  )

But, I'm sure some really love it, and it is very unique looking. :|

A POFS obviously intended for the emerging third-world export market.

I'm sure Leo is puking his guts out right about now.

I've seen a Telecaster with a humbucker built into the bridge and also one mounted on a ring into the neck position that was painted up to look like a goldtop les paul. I thought to myself, "I'd rock that." As for this one, it's pretty tastefully done except for the color. To each their own, I guess. I bet it sounds fantastic.

I have to give this an "A" for effort, "F" for execution...and yep I'm thinking that this is what happens when you leave an epi coronet and Bronco in a closet together for waaaay to long.

And WTF is with the color choice? Baby Crap Green...I don't think I have seen that color on thier color chart before

... I think it's OK.

Needs a neck pickup though. I'd rather have the original American Deluxe version with the P90 jobbies in it. Much nicer. Especially in the transparent crimson. 8)

Vlad don't be ashamed if you like it...Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...Gibson sold lots of thier Firebrand Series guitars and I use the term loosely when I say guitar...Firebrand? More like Firewood! Terrible sound, heavy as crap and a headstock three times too big!

I think that the red one I posted is the perfect marriage of Fender and Gibson, as made by Fender.

Tried out a few Gibsons that were trying to be Fenders (they all belong to a friend's dad, he has an immense collection of stupid, pointless Gibsons) and hated every minute of it. There was a bizarre SG with a Floyd/Kahler (??!) trem unit... some kind of bendy Les Paul, looked like it had melted... plus I think one of those Firewood things you spoke of. Either way, truly nasty collection.

Happy days..!

Vlad I think I agree with you

I like the American select model HSS strats too... and I let one slip through my fingers....

You do stupid things when you're young... every time I think about it I regret it

They're Firebirds...apparently none of you like southern rock. Allen Collins of Lynyrd Skynyrd had one, because Eric Clapton rocked one with Cream for a little while. Rickey Medlocke from Blackfoot had one. Neil Young put a Firebird pickup in his Black Les Paul...can't get any dirtier sounding than him. It's a little over the top for most people, but there's a place for it.

Nope NOT Firebirds...Those are great, I am talking about a late 70s or early 80s FIREBRAND guitars by Gibson. They were solid mahogany or walnut, weighed a ton, had some crappy overly gainey pickups, and the headstock was Huge! The necks were ok and had ebony fretboards with pearl dots. They did les pauls, SGs, 335s, and some had the Gibson on the headstock branded in like on a horse, which did I mention they weighed about the same as!   They should have called them the "FIREWOOD" series as that was all they were good for. Never heard one that sounded worth a crap. IMHO of course. Google it you will see what I mean.
