I have a 2011 American Deluxe HSS Stratocaster in sunset metalic. It is a great guitar, and the compound radius neck plays really nice. The N3 pickups are nice, but I started thinking about different pickup options. I prefer an SSS Strat, but the HSS had the roller nut, and being that I like changing string guages alot, the roller nut is perfect for that. Also, the humbucker is extremely hot, and even adjusted almost flush with the pickguard it's still twice as loud as the other pickups.

Anyway, I started looking into some of the pre-loaded pickguards and noticed that my local GC had the David Gilmour EMG DG-20 in stock. I read that it had an active circuit that was great for chord definition. That's always been one of my little prolbems with electric and strumming full chords. They seem to get muddied up when I strum hard with certain full chords. I wondered how it would sound clean into my 65 Twin Reverb RI, and the guy at GC said I could try it out for 14 days and return it if I wasn't happy with it... :)

It took less than an hour to put in, fit right in without any mods, and sounds way better than the N3's. I can hammer out chords, and can hear every note in the chord loud and clear. It sounds amazing through my twin reverb too.

It's like I have a new guitar, and now it's an SSS as well... with... a roller nut... :)

Here is a short sample clip... and make sure you crank it up... :)

Sounds great. I would love to have that exact setup.

Wow, that's one killer looking (and sounding) guitar!!! I love it! I've been seriously debating buying the DG-20 loaded pickguard for one of my strats. It's a stock 2001 American Standard and I feel the pickups are major dullards, plus I don't like the 60 cycle hum.

Bcalvanese, I noticed that you've two Strats in that sunset sunburst metallic finish, the aforementioned HSS which was converted to SSS with the DG20 set and another SSS with stock N3s and S-1 switch.

I suppose you put the EMGs into the HSS guitar because of the LSR roller nut...
