My input jack on my guitar stopped working for recently for no apparent reason, it worked fine an hour ago but now it just stopped working. I've already checked to see if any wires are cut or broke but they seem fine, and my input chords are fine too. Any ideas on what I could do or if I need a new input jack or something?

Hi JxV3000,

Have you checked the other end of the wires, where they connect to the pots? (remove pick guard)

If you have an "input jack" on your guitar, you have a major problem. You should have an "output jack". Two totally different jacks.

Take the pickguard off; plug in, and check each wire, while tapping one of the pickups with something metal that will give a sound while you search. When you find what wire is wrong, fix it. It may be a pot as well, or the switch. Remember the pickups run to the switch first, then to the pots. If you have Multi-reader, you can use the continuity tester to see if a wire is not making contact. But the easiest way is the first way i described,

What is the story of this guitar; used one ? modified ? or brand new.

Your output jack could work but not your guitar

Basically, yes.... check to see that proper contact is being made with the cord end. Sometimes the metal needs to make better contact. Take it apart and check it out. Simple fix.

Which is why I use Switchcraft Mil-Spec phone jacks in all my guitars. They are designed for more abuse then the average guitarist will inflict upon them in a lifetime.
