Hi

Apologies for the dumb $@! questions, being left handed and living in south africa i dont get the choices regarding guitars like most of you guys get so please help me out a bit here.

i was at my local music shop and they had a couple of american deluxe models (right handed) and i just played a lil with em a lil and loved the tone ,loved the whole vibe and loved the feel and touch of them. So i asked them about availablity of left handed ones and there are none in country They have specially ordered me one in left handed format (any colour so long as its 3 tone sunburts btw) and due to all my other guitars being rosewood fretboard i decided to order a maple one (i am not forced to buy it by the way ) so herewith a couple of questions:

is the playability of maple different to that of rosewood? (lets not rehash the maple vs rosewood debate tonality wise) just curuious on the playability of maple?

do the string contrast less on maple than on rosewood? (ie are they less visible) funny question this but its something i thought about ..i have 20 20 vision at distance but close up i struggle a bit in the wrong light.

is it worth the extra money over american standard ? i currently have an upgraded MiM with pups swopped out etc .... my MiM has become my no 1 guitar over the years ..i love it so and will marry it as soon as bigamy is legalised here.

man ,them deluxes look sweeet ..... jsut touching the right handed ones in store brought a lump to my throat and a lil tear to my eye....what a beautiful piece of equipment.

Thanksfor reading

cheers

I've got a Deluxe and a Am Standard. The deluxe is a bit better with refinements, rolled edges, locking tuners, LSR nut, pop-in arm, ect. I don't see much playability difference in maple vs rosewood. Good luck with your choice. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

There won't be a tremendous amount of difference in feel between the two, but a maple fingerboard will yield a slightly brighter sound.

A maple fretboard being brighter with less mids than rosewood is one of the most common misconceptions - with the same surface finish the opposite is true. The myth is due to maple often being heavily coated which changes the result, the blame being mistakenly tagged to the wood immersed beneath.
