I recently acquired a 2002 Hot Rodded Strat in Inca Silver, only fifty made in that color, it came stock with a Seymor Duncan humbucker in the bridge along with two fender single coil hot rails. This guitar is said to have came from the fender rep. The pickguard and cover on the back have been upgraded to the white pearl. Another mod is an EMG Afterburner ( a built in tube screamer that replaced a tone knob ). Can anyone tell me more information about this guitar, or thoughts on the value. The condition is like new, the plastic is still on the pickguard, and no visible signs on the fretboard that its even been played. I value any and all comments. Thanks.

The guitar you're talking about is an American Fat Strat Texas Special, aka USA Lonestar Stratocaster. It came with a pearloid pickguard, two Texas Special single-coil pickups and a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus humbucking pickup. Fender produced this model from 1997 to 2003.

It's worth nothing. I'll buy it off you for $200. ;)

In all seriousness, they're quite hard to find. I'm looking high and low for a Surf Pearl model.

They only ran the Inca Silver/Surf Pearl colours for the model year of 2002-2003, which makes them a bugger to find. Don't know if they limited them to fifty, but they're not exactly easy to find used unless you want a Lone Star (you can tell it apart by two string trees as opposed to one, and a different range of colours).

Here's a spec sheet from the 2002 UK price list for you to feast your eyes on. :)

You're welcome. Fat Strats are my favourite guitar-shaped Fenders, bar none. It's all I ever have owned, Strat-side.

If you ever want to let go of that Inca Silver one, let me know... trying to get a complete set of Fat Strats.

So the fats are not deluxe then, but your favorite for a reason. I'm thinking this one is special and I'll probably keep it. You'll be the first to know if I change my mind.

They can be- you just have to think of them as a regular Strat, but with a humbucker. All the same options apply, i.e. you can have a Fat Strat in Highway 1, American Standard and American Deluxe series... if that makes sense.

Not really sure how to put it in words! it's early...

Yours, for example, is not 'deluxe' but you could buy the American Deluxe version of it in 2002. Yours does, however, carry upgrades over the American Standard- pearloid pickguard, those gorgeous Texas Specials & the SD at the bridge, plus a whole raft of custom colours.

Please do! Never seen an Inca Silver one before! Currently hunting for Sienna Sunburst and Surf Pearl. 8)
