hi, I have just got my fender custom shop strat that I got without trying for USA on eBay, great guitar although not 100% happy with the neck.

Would it be a crime or a stupid thing to consider putting a warmouth neck on it? Do custom shop sell only necks by them selves? I am the first owner of the guitar and I got it at a good price.

What do you guys think?

It's currently oval c shape, 7.5 radius... Does fret out on high e string high up, its a light coloured rosewood. So I would prefer 9.5 radius, dark Indian rosewood and soft v shape neck

Hey man,Strats are made to change, get what you want because you will not be happy until you do.
I just had the 6105 frets on a year old '59 RI Strat lowered and recrowned because I couldn't stand them for being too tall, most guys will think that's crazy, but now it's so much better to me!

are the warmouth necks great quality? don't want to ruin the guitar by putting on a neck that will made it sound much different

I wouldn't change a genuine CS neck - - just fix it to your liking.

+1

Find a luthier who's proficient working on 7.5" radius necks -- have him (or her) level, crown, and polish the frets then set the trussrod for proper relief. That should eliminate any choking-out at the upper register.

I only buy 'used' and locally. Way cheaper than Ebay and I try every guitar before I buy it.

If this is a used guitar then why not resell it? Why put another few hundred bucks into it by changing the neck and actually reducing the guitar's value?

Get in contact with Phil Jacoby at Philtone guitars. He's a great luthier and do amazing work on necks. For my money there is none better.

Unfortunatley I live in the UK.

Anyone know of any good Luthiers in the south of the UK?
