Don't know if it is a fake or not. It sure is a pretty neck and guitar.

W/o going into details, the neck does look fishy. Not sure. It is a beautiful guitar though. Does it really matter if it's a Fender if it's good quality?

Thanks! I should have figured that out! :? I'm leery of that neck as the placement of the serial number is kind of haphazard for the Custom Shop. They usually do a better job of alignment. Just my opinion though, all could be fine.
Sure is a pretty guitar!!

Hi OdinMan: it's not a Fender neck because of the crooked placement of the tuning machines. Which is something you see a lot on fake-o-casters and yet is very odd - it's not hard to get right, after all. Fender never install their tuners wonky like that, especially not in the Custom Shop.

Someone else will have to comment on the decals on the back of the headstock. (EDIT: oops, I see that Hop just did.)

Whatever, it's a mightly distinctive piece of timber. Pretty. And a nice looking guitar all together. Take the logos off and play it for what it is, would be my suggestion.

Cheers - C

That neck looks new but it's supposedly from a late 80's Strat? Must have been kept wrapped in plastic in a vault. If pristine then why take it off the body?

Maybe I'm missing something here.

Hi Aerodynamite, Most of us so far think it's a counterfeit. The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced. I spot 6 problems, mostly to do w/sloppiness. I don't like to mention them, because I think it's one of those Chinese counterfeits, & I think they monitor these sites to know their mistakes. Even if I'm wrong about that, I'd rather err on the safe side. Don't just look at the pretty wood, look at the details of the craftsmanship.

Very smart!! Pure fake. Where's the skunk stripe on the back of the neck???
