I'm thinking of dropping a Seymour Duncan "little 59'er" in the bridge of my American Standard Strat. Anyone on here have any experience with the Seymour Strat Pickups that are humbuckers in a single coil package?

I basically want to add more versatility to my Strat. I love the Neck pickup & sometimes I use the middle, but the stock bridge pickup is way to "ice pick" treble like & thin sounding. I'm thinking the 59 will add just the right amount of warmth & thickness to the bridge.

I could buy a HSS Strat, but I prefer the look of the 3 singles on a Strat. I want the humbucker sound without the look.

If any of you have made this mod to your Strats, whether it's the 59'er or any other humbucker in a single coil package, I'd like to read your thoughts on the subject.

Thanks

im very happy with the sound. this guitar can do any kind of music. i would also look into dimarzio. I've got a tone zone in the bridge of my '57 HR strat.

these pickups maintain the classic strat look and give you some "raw" tones.

Did you change either the values of the tone or volume pots? or capacitors? I know that most often hums are set up with 500k pots vs the 250k pots for single coils. Also capacitor values are changed due to the higher pup output on the hums. Just wondering :D

not sure on this. the guitar already had it installed when I bought it used.

to be safe, I'd check the pickup specs and also with the manufacturer.

Here's a Seymour-Duncan Pearly Gates in bridge position - a very hot pickup!

why not just make it a fat strat and use a normal sized bucker? i love my sh-11. sounds just like a PAF and splits really well. pickguards are only like 12 bucks.

and that is a sweet $@! ESP strat.

I like the look of the slanted bridge single better in a Strat than a standard humbucker.

I was actually thinking of buying an HSS American Standard, but then found out about these humbuckers in a single coil size.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
