Hi...I just bought a 0.05" allen key to adjust the action of my 2 MIM Strats/1 Tele, and when it goes into the screw, there's no actual turning. The Strats are mid 90's and the Tele is an '07 I believe...is it possible they're ALL worn down, or is the size of the key wrong...?

Thanks..!

Hi tourima,

Some MIM models have the .050 inch size, but for yours maybe it's the wrong size. Other MIM models have 1.5 mm (I think), which is slightly larger than the .050 inch (1.2 mm).

Thanks - I'll have to try one that size and see if it works...

The heads of the saddle screws do wear very quickly, especially if you don't slacken off the string before adjusting.

I lust after the saddle screw allen key my Tech has. It has a screwdriver handle and is tapered to fit any saddle screw going, worn or not. Wish I could find one..

I guess I'll have to take them into a luthier/guitar tech and have him look at them...the funny thing is, I don't think the bridge saddles have been adjusted in years...

Wrong size hex key. I find the best way to be covered on hex key needs is to buy one of the small folding sets with assorted sizes keys. I keep one set of metrics and a set of standards.
